Podcast EMOTION and INTELLIGENCE
I am committed to designing a new conceptual framework for the epistemology of emotion, that avoids both an extreme rationalism that refuses to grant emotions any positive epistemic function and irrational emotivism. I claim that it is thus necessary to start by analysing those epistemic practices in the social dimension of knowledge which are entangled with material culture. Inspired by the pragmatist tradition, I argue that instead of looking at abstract rules of belief-forming, the epistemic agent’s character traits and abilities for knowing should be investigated in the social and practical dimensions of epistemic practices.
